Slovenia to boast new facilities this ski season

A number of new facilities are set to open in Slovenia this winter that could make the country a more popular destination for skiing and snowboarding holidays.
On 23 December, a new gondola lift will be opened at Maribor Pohorje, the largest ski area in Slovenia.
The lift has the capacity to carry up to 1,000 people per hour and will take passengers from the foot to the summit of the Pohorje mountain in six minutes.
Also due to open this week is a new piste linking the resort of Kanin in Slovenia with Sella Nevea in Italy, which will create the region's first international ski area.
A single lift pass will provide access to pistes on both sides of the border for skiers, who can also make use of a new aerial lift and ski run.
Winter sports enthusiasts who choose Slovenia this season will be able to make use of other facilities including a new children's play area at the resort of Kranjska Gora and a snow park at Cerkno in the north-west.
Flights to Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital city, are available with Czech Airlines, Swiss, Lufthansa and other carriers.
