Travellers visiting New York City next year will have the chance to attend a special event celebrating movies created for younger viewers.

The IFC Center in Manhattan will host the New York International Children's Film Festival from 26 February to 14 March.

In the past, the event has hosted the US premieres of several high-profile films, including Millions, a movie directed by award-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle, and A Matter of Loaf and Death starring the much-loved Wallace and Gromit.

The 2010 festival will host a number of special screenings that will be attended by celebrities and directors who will take part in discussions regarding their work.

Visitors will also be able to see film retrospectives, attend exhibitions and take part in workshops covering various cinematic disciplines, from clay animation to acting.

Film fans can also visit New York's Museum of Modern Art before 15 March next year to see an exhibition celebrating the acclaimed director and artist Tim Burton.
