New Aer Lingus service welcomed at Cork airport

Cork airport managers have welcomed Aer Lingus' announcement that it will launch a new service this year linking the base to London Gatwick.
The twice-daily flights will get underway on 6 March.
Kevin Cullinane, marketing manager at Cork, described the connection as a 'huge boost' for the airport and said it will be welcomed by the travelling public as well as business communities.
Enda Corneille, corporate affairs director at Aer Lingus, said: 'The new twice-daily service from Cork to Gatwick will give our customers more choice and greater flexibility and, furthermore, ease of access to the south-east of England.
'The new service will complement our four daily services between Cork and London Heathrow and will further strengthen business, leisure and connecting traffic between the south of Ireland and London.'
Aer Lingus' other services from Cork include flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Manchester and Paris.
In December 2009, the Irish base received a new connection to East Midlands airport, which is operated by bmibaby.
