Everest exhibition to open at New York museum

Travellers visiting New York City this year will be able to see a fascinating photography exhibition.
In the Shadow of Everest will open at the Rubin Museum of Art on 26 February and will run until 26 July.
The display will bring together a selection of images captured by photographer Tom Wool during the four weeks he spent in Tibet's Rongbuk valley in May 2001.
Wool studied the rugged terrain and the small villages found in the valley, which stretches roughly 30 miles from the base of Mount Everest on the north side.
The area is home to around 3,000 Tibetans and the Rongbuk Monastery.
During his journey, the photographer followed the route taken by British explorers in the early 20th century, including George Mallory and Andrew Irvine on their ill-fated attempt to climb Everest in 1924.
People planning to visit New York this year will also be able to see an exhibition at the Rubin Museum of Art exploring images of death and the afterlife in Christian and Buddhist traditions.
The display will open on 19 March.
