Holidaymakers planning a trip to Italy over the coming months will be able to visit the Emilia Romagna region as it hosts a variety of events.

Already underway is an art exhibition at Sismondo Castle in Rimini, which brings together masterpieces by the likes of Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet.

The show will be open until 21 March.

People with an interest in cinema can pay a visit to the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna from 14 March to see an exhibition celebrating the Italian director Federico Fellini, which will feature pictures, articles, artworks and other items.

Every year, the town of Vignola in the province of Modena hosts a festival to celebrate the blooming of cherry trees in the area.

Due to run from 20 March to 11 April this year, the event features concerts, restaurant promotions, tasting sessions and much more for visitors to enjoy.

People planning to visit Italy in June or July can head to the city of Ravenna to attend its annual music festival, which takes place in a variety of theatres and churches.

Flights to Bologna, Rimini and other destinations in the Emilia Romagna region are provided by carriers including British Airways and Lufthansa.
