IHG opens first Denmark hotel
8 Feb 2010

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, which is its first hotel in Denmark.

The new property comprises 366 rooms and offers 'stunning views' across Copenhagen and the entire Oresund region, the company revealed.

It is located close to the city's international airport and provides easy access to train stations that are linked to attractions such as Tivoli Gardens, the Royal Castle and the Nyhavn area.

The hotel's facilities include a bar, a Scandinavian restaurant and the first groundwater-based heating and cooling system in Denmark, which is expected to lead to substantial reductions in energy use.

Kirk Kinsell, IHG's president in Europe, said: 'We have more than 350 Crowne Plaza hotels in nearly 50 countries around the world so we're excited to bring Crowne Plaza to Denmark for the first time.

'Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers will offer a comfortable, stylish and accessible base for guests travelling on business or on a holiday or short break.'

The IHG brand was also boosted in the US recently with the opening of the Crowne Plaza Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
