Wanderlust readers voted Namibia their favourite country for the magazine's 2010 Travel Awards.
The African nation received a score of 95.1%, placing it ahead of Oman, New Zealand, Australia and Laos, which completed the top five.
In the section covering cities, Luang Prabang in Laos took top spot with a rating of 94.7%, closely followed by Siena, Italy; Berlin, Germany; Seville, Spain and Kyoto, Japan.
Wanderlust reader Lucy Palmer described Luang Prabang as 'one of those rare traveller towns where as soon as you arrive you feel right at home'.
Singapore Airlines was named the top air carrier of the past year ahead of
Etihad Airways and
Air New Zealand, while
Virgin Atlantic and Swiss also made it into the top ten.
In the airports sections, Singapore Changi, Hong Kong International and Vancouver took the top three places worldwide, with London City, Southampton and Newcastle were named the leading UK hubs.
People looking for some travel inspiration were pointed towards Lonely Planet's publications, with the company winning the top guidebook series award, followed by Bradt and DK.
