Historic beers to be created in London brewery
18 Feb 2010

A new brewery that will create historic beers is to open in London next month.

The Old Brewery is located in the south-eastern part of the UK capital and has been set up as part of the Discover Greenwich project, an initiative to raise the profile of the borough.

Eight copper vessels have been installed on the site in order to revive the Tudor tradition of brewing on the site.

The building housing the brewery is itself of historical significance, dating back to the 19th century.

Duncan Wilson, chief executive of the Greenwich Foundation, explained: 'Henry VIII palace had a dedicated brewhouse, a tradition continued at the Royal Naval Hospital and I am delighted it is part of Discover Greenwich.

'The Old Brewery provides the new destination with a unique visitor experience, not least the vast array of award winning beers created by Meantime Brewing Company – including the beer to be brewed on site.'
