Foreign exchange firm Caxton FX has offered a number of recommendations for people planning to head abroad to get married this year.
The company revealed that overseas weddings have 'soared in popularity' recently, with around one in six British people choosing a foreign setting for their big day.
One destination couples could consider is Sri Lanka, which offers traditional Buddhist weddings as well as civil ceremonies featuring dancers, drummers and singers.
Caxton FX and wedding consultant Lisa Burton also recommended Cyprus, stating that the island is a 'firm favourite' among Britons getting married abroad.
Ms Burton suggested: 'Go for a luxury wedding at one of the stunning beachfront resorts, or for a more intimate setting, there are beautiful local tavernas and hidden villas offering a traditional paradise in natural surroundings.'
Several other island destinations are popular for nuptial ceremonies, including the Caribbean, the Mauritius and the Bahamas.
Caxton FX also highlighted the options of Thailand and New York for couples planning an adventurous wedding, while those who would rather stay closer to home could opt for Italy or Turkey.
