KLM will expand its presence at Liverpool John Lennon airport this year with the launch of an additional flight to Amsterdam.
The new service will get underway on 10 May, bringing the total number of daily flights on the route to four.
As well as increasing access to mainland Europe for people travelling from north-west England, the extra connection will make it easier for passengers to connect to
KLM's long-haul flights to destinations such as Shanghai, Johannesburg and Mexico City.
Henri Hourcade, general manager of
Air France-
KLM in the UK and Ireland, said: 'Our new summer schedule is great news for Liverpool and for
KLM and is a tangible symbol of the strength of our operations out of Merseyside.
'Whether travelling for business or leisure, the new schedule means faster connectivity with
KLM's intercontinental route network, seamless integration with our European network and the convenience of being able to do a full day's business in Amsterdam and be back home in time for dinner.'
KLM will operate the fourth daily flight to Amsterdam from Liverpool using a Fokker 70 aircraft with capacity to carry up to 80 passengers.
