Travellers 'to benefit' from bmi-Swiss codeshare

Bmi and Swiss have reached a codeshare agreement which the airlines claim will deliver benefits for travellers.
The deal, which is effective immediately, builds on an existing partnership between the two carriers that led to the opening of a new service between London and Geneva in January 2010.
It will enable bmi to offer fares on flights to Zurich, Geneva and Basel in Switzerland from London City, Heathrow, Manchester Birmingham and Edinburgh airports.
People travelling from the UK will be offered easier connections to Swiss' network of 76 destinations worldwide via Switzerland.
Katherine Gershon, sales and marketing director for bmi, said: 'Our new codeshare agreement with Swiss is in response to demand and will provide significant benefits to customers, opening up the beautiful country of Switzerland.
'The alliance will mean our customers will have the opportunity to travel on new services between our key departure points, Switzerland and beyond.'
Other carriers currently cooperating with bmi on a codeshare basis include Aegean Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Continental.
