British travellers will be given more opportunities to experience the Airbus A380 this year, with
Emirates set to bring a second superjumbo to London Heathrow to operate flights to Dubai.
The carrier announced that the additional aircraft will be based in London from 1 July.
It will operate daily on flight EK004, which departs Heathrow at 20:40 following the earlier A380 service EK002 at 14:15.
Salem Obaidalla,
Emirates' senior vice-president of commercial operations in Europe, said: 'This is an important development for
Emirates as this is the first route where we have made a long-term commitment to double up on the double-decker.
'London Heathrow was one of the key airports we had in mind when the A380 was first conceived and the new deployment allows more passengers travelling to and from the British capital to experience this remarkable aircraft.'
The airline first brought the A380 to London Heathrow in December 2008.
Passengers are accommodated in 517 seats and provided with access to amenities including a personal entertainment system and satellite phone in economy and onboard showers in first class.
