Lufthansa has announced that it will operate flights to more than 200 destinations in 81 countries this summer.

The airline will offer an average of 12,853 weekly services, while available seating capacity will be higher than last year as a result of fleet renewal.

One of the highlights of the coming months will be the introduction of Lufthansa's Airbus A380, which will be deployed on the carrier's intercontinental route network from June.

The destinations being served by the A380 will be announced in April.

New additions to the airline's route network this year will include Bari and Palermo in Italy, Zadar in Croatia and Chisinau in Moldavia.

Thierry Antinori, Lufthansa's executive vice-president of marketing and sales, said: 'With more than 200 destinations this summer, including six newcomers, we are offering passengers an attractive timetable of outstanding quality in respect of flight connections.'

He added: 'We are also laying on more than a dozen new connections in Europe, enabling our passengers to profit from more non-stop flights.'
