AMAWATERWAYS has announced that its passengers can now make use of an advanced 'infotainment' system.

The technology allows travellers to access features including a Google map tracing the route of the ship.

Guests will also be able to use high-speed internet services and watch films via a video-on-demand facility in their cabins.

The new system has been installed on all of the company's vessels sailing the Danube, Rhine, Main and Mosel rivers, which run through countries including Germany, Austria and Hungary.

Rudi Schreiner, president of AMAWATERWAYS, said: 'Today's travellers expect a full array of internet and entertainment options and do not want to pay extra for them.

'Our new, enhanced complimentary infotainment system is the best offering in cruising today and adds value to the guest's experience on AMAWATERWAYS.'

The company offers cruises along several river networks around the world, including the Mekong, which flows through China, Thailand and other countries, and the Douro in Spain and Portugal.
