Southampton airport to host centenary Easter egg hunt

Southampton airport has arranged a special event this weekend to celebrate the arrival of Easter and 100 years of flights being available in south Hampshire.

The base will provide the venue for a special 'centenary Easter egg hunt' over the bank holiday weekend from 2 to 5 April.

One hundred chocolate eggs have been donated by Cadbury's and will be hidden at various locations throughout the airport for travellers to find.

Announcing the event, airport operator BAA said: 'Passengers travelling this weekend should keep their eyes peeled for this eggstravaganza!'

Southampton airport is set to handle some 29,000 passengers during the Easter holiday period, representing a 3.6% increase from last year.

Flights to Edinburgh, Guernsey, Jersey, Glasgow and Manchester have been the most popular options among travellers, while Amsterdam, Bergerac, Dublin, Paris and Rennes have also attracted interest from people planning short breaks.

EasyJet is expecting to carry over 1m passengers this weekend to destinations such as Geneva, Malaga and Faro.
