Malta is a 'small and convenient' holiday destination
9 Apr 2010
Families booking a holiday in Malta can look forward to exploring a wealth of cultural and historical offerings.
With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Alex Incorvaja, the Malta Tourism Authority's UK and Ireland director, believes the Mediterranean archipelago is ideal for weekend breaks too thanks to its short flying time from the UK.
'The islands are so small and so convenient,' he explained. 'Once you are on Malta you don't waste time travelling from A to B to get to archaeological remains'.
Mr Incorvaja went on to say that Malta is located just three hours from the UK and boasts a variety of restaurants offering Mediterranean cuisines with a Maltese slant.
A further attraction to Malta is that it is home to three UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Valetta, the capital city.
Air Malta is continuing its existing schedule of three daily flights to the archipelago from London Heathrow, while the carrier has increased its flight frequency from London Gatwick.
