London to welcome the Elephant Parade

London to welcome the Elephant Parade
30 Apr 2010

Travellers planning city breaks in London between May and July will be able to see some unique sights when an unusual art project comes to the city.

The Elephant Parade is the result of a collaboration between leading artists and designers, including Marc Quinn, Diane Von Furstenberg and Lulu Guinness, and the Elephant Family charity.

Over 260 life-size elephants have been created and will be displayed in famous London locations including the South Bank, Buckingham Palace and Parliament Square from May to July.

Selfridges department store on Oxford Street will also be taking part in the event, with six of the elephant models set to be displayed between 3 May and 30 June.

Visitors will be able to buy miniature replicas of the life-size designs, 75 of which will be available until the end of July.

Following the display, the artworks will be auctioned by Sotheby's to raise money for elephant conservation charities working in Asia.
