Head to Bordeaux for the Wine Festival
10 May 2010
Holidays in Bordeaux could prove a popular option among wine enthusiasts later this year when a major festival celebrating the beverage is held in south-west France.
The seventh Bordeaux Wine Festival will take place within the city and throughout the Aquitaine region from 24 to 27 June.
Various shows and events are being arranged to celebrate and promote the produce of several vineyards and appellations located in the region.
Visitors can purchase one of the festival's tasting or vineyard passes to take tours that include tasting sessions at leading wine chateaux and producers, as well as lunch and the services of an English-speaking guide.
There will also be excursions available in Bordeaux that offer an insight into the region's history and culture, as well as a section of the festival dedicated to the French-speaking city of Quebec in Canada.
People planning to attend the event this year can catch flights to Bordeaux with a number of carriers, including British Airways, easyJet and Air France.
