Exhibition to offer insight into New York culture
11 May 2010

Travellers visiting New York this year will be able to see an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art offering an insight into the culture of the city.

A display of photographs taken by Leon Levinstein will open on 8 June and run until 17 October.

Levinstein is described by the museum as 'an unheralded master of street photography', known for his 'graphic virtuosity' and an 'unusual compassion for his off-beat subjects'.

The forthcoming show will feature a selection of 40 photographs, drawn exclusively from the institute's collection, which illustrate the artist's unique and distinctive approach to the medium.

Viewers will be taken on a tour to various neighbourhoods and famous locations throughout New York City, such as Times Square, the Lower East Side and Coney Island.

People planning a cultural break in the Big Apple this year might be interested in visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art before 1 August to see a display of work by Pablo Picasso.
