Dubrovnik cable car to open in June

Holidaymakers will be offered a new experience in Dubrovnik this summer when a cable car begins operating on Mount Srd.
Due to open on 1 June, the new car will replace a similar service that ran from 1969 to the 1990s and carried some 2.5m people every year.
Passengers will be transported up the mountain in two carriages with the capacity to hold 30 people each, which will make the ascent in three minutes.
The upper station is located 405 metres above sea level and, on a clear day, offers views stretching for 60km.
Visitors will be able to look through telescopes to see the city below them and some of the islands that are located off the coast.
Other facilities on offer on Mount Srd include a restaurant, shop and 250-seat amphitheatre.
Travellers will also be heading to Croatia this year to attend the 61st Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which will bring opera, theatre productions, live music concerts and other events to the city between 10 July and 25 August.
