DK Eyewitness Travel has promoted the addition of Cape Town to the range of destinations listed on its website by highlighting some of the top things to see and do in the city.

Travellers were encouraged to pay a visit to the Company's Garden, a park located next to the iconic Table Mountain, or explore the V&A waterfront area with its 'outdoor cafes, vibrant nightlife and exciting shopping'.

Visitors interested in learning more about South Africa's history and culture can visit attractions such as Robben Island, which is described as the country's answer to Alcatraz, or the District Six Museum.

Adventurous activities recommended by DK Eyewitness Travel include caving in the network of sandstone caverns above Kalk Bay, scuba diving, quad biking in Elgin Valley and abseiling down the western face of Table Mountain.

The addition of Cape Town to the company's website means visitors can now browse through information relating to the destination and create their own personalised guide.

Cape Town will be one of the main host cities during the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa, which will begin on 11 June.
