Oceans Festival to return to Lisbon
29 Jun 2010

The Oceans Festival will return to Lisbon this summer, offering a world of culture and entertainment for visitors to explore.

Set to run from 31 July to 14 August, the event will feature live music concerts, late-night museum openings, exhibitions, street performances and more.

Proceedings will get underway at Praca do Comercio, where celebrated singer and producer Lauryn Hill will perform along with Portuguese band Seda on the first night of the festival.

Music fans might also be interested in some of the fado performances set to be staged at Praca do Municipio, with Mafalda Arnauth, Cristina Branco and Katia Guerreiro among the artists on the programme.

Parque das Nacoes will provide the venue for an exhibition focusing on some of the first trips to Portugal by photojournalists working for National Geographic magazine.

The show will run throughout the festival and feature a selection of images that were printed in 1922.

Travellers visiting Lisbon will also be able to see a musical fireworks display at Doca dos Olivias on 14 August.
