Travellers encouraged to plan New York Christmas trips
5 Aug 2010

Summer may be in full swing, but travellers considering a break in New York during the Christmas period have been encouraged to start planning soon to make sure they experience everything the destination has to offer.

Tourism promotion agency NYC & Company said the city's five boroughs will once again offer 'world-renowned performances, shopping, dining and more' during the winter holiday season.

The countdown to Christmas will officially begin when Santa Claus himself arrives in Herald Square during the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on 25 November.

Highlights for visitors to look out for during the festive period include the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, which will be performed from 5 November to 30 December, and the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center on 30 November.

George Fertitta, chief executive of NYC & Company, said: 'There's no better time to experience New York City's five boroughs than during the annual holiday season.

'Each year the city opens its arms and welcomes visitors to experience some of the world's most stunning holiday decorations, events and entertainment. This year will be another opportunity to enjoy the city's unique energy, excitement and vibrancy.'
