Montreal festival 'to thrill film lovers'

The 34th edition of the World Film Festival will take place in the Canadian city of Montreal this summer and is set to provide a range of memorable experiences for movie lovers.
Tourisme Montreal revealed that the event will begin with the premiere of Route 132, the new film from Quebec director Louis Belanger, which will be followed by some 400 works from around the globe.
A host of well-known figures from world cinema will be appearing at the festival this year, such as French actor Gerard Depardieu, actress Nathalie Baye and director Bertrand Tavernier.
Danish filmmaker Bille August will lead the jury for the next outing of the festival, which will run from 26 August to 6 September.
Charles Lapointe, president and chief executive of Tourisme Montreal, said: 'Once again, the World Film Festival features an exciting programme and a truly impressive guest list.
'And once again, everyone's attention, from film lovers to people across the filmmaking industry, will be focused on Montreal, affirming its reputation as a world-class film centre and cosmopolitan destination.'
