Milan to boast new museum
24 Aug 2010

There will soon be a new cultural experience on offer to travellers in Milan when the Museo del Novecento opens in the city.

The museum, which is due to begin welcoming guests at the Palazzo dell'Arengario in November, will celebrate 20th century art.

It will boast unique architectural features including a large spiral ramp, which the Italian State Tourist Board describes as a 'functional yet stylish element', connecting the basement to an upper terrace facing the Duomo.

Visitors will be able to explore 3,500 square metres of exhibition space to see work by some of the most important artists of the past 100 years, such as Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Georges Braque and Giorgio de Chirico.

The Museo del Novocento will also house a restaurant and a bookshop where visitors can pick up some souvenirs.

Holidaymakers planning a break in Rome before 14 November can head to the city's Trajan markets to see a photography exhibition celebrating the 'dolce vita' era in the Italian capital in the 1950s and 60s.
