New Mexico highlighting 'natural beauty'

The New Mexico Tourism Department has launched a new promotional campaign designed to boost the state's profile in Europe and highlight its natural attractions.
After reaching an agreement with Mangum Hills Balfour of Munich to consolidate its branding and marketing activities in Europe, the tourism agency is hoping to bring more attention to its ecotourism offerings.
Last year, an initiative was launched to promote New Mexico as one of the leading destinations for environmentally friendly tourism and conservation in the US.
Tourism department deputy secretary Jennifer Hobson said: 'Ecotourism is seen by the Europeans as one of the freshest and most exciting travel opportunities to the United States.
'New Mexico is promoting not only its natural beauty, but also its outdoor adventure, cultural heritage preservation and access to wild places.'
The UK is one of the state's main international markets, along with Germany, France and Italy, among others.
Travellers can catch flights to Albuquerque to get to New Mexico, which provides opportunities to go hiking in the mountains or visit attractions such as the White Sands National Monument.
