Travellers will find things to do in Hamburg, regardless of the time of year they plan to visit, according to the German National Tourist Board.
Stefanie Raudschus, new media executive at the tourism agency, said that Christmas markets are a big favourite for British travellers in Hamburg and many other destinations in Germany.
However, she also pointed out that the city offers plenty of attractions for people planning to enjoy a break before the cold weather sets in.
'Christmas markets are very popular, but it is really nice for summer as well - you have got the harbour and shopping,' Ms Raudschus said.
The spokeswoman also encouraged tourists to explore the local fish markets, which are held every morning and provide a range of tasty dishes for visitors to try.
Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany after Berlin and hosts regular
flights operated by carriers such as easyJet,
British Airways, Swiss and
