Turkey has been named the top country in the Conde Nast Readers' Travel Awards 2010.
It took the top accolade in the section with a visitor satisfaction rating of 94.8 out of 100, beating Egypt, Australia, Italy and New Zealand, which completed the top five.
Readers of Conde Nast Traveller magazine were also asked to rate cities around the world, with Venice in Italy achieving the highest score of 93.8.
New York, Paris, Rome and Istanbul also featured in the top five, all receiving scores of 90 or more.
Edinburgh, Oxford and London were named the top three cities in the UK, while Hong Kong took the top honour in the category covering island destinations, followed by Sicily, the Maldives, the Cyclades and the Balearics.
Voters named
Lufthansa their favourite short-haul leisure airline, ahead of
bmi and Swiss.
UK and Ireland-based carriers
British Airways,
Aer Lingus and
Monarch Airlines also made it into the top ten in this category.
