Swiss improving economy service

Swiss improving economy service
29 Sep 2010

Travellers catching economy class flights with Swiss could notice a number of improvements to the airline's product offering in the near future.

The company announced that passengers on economy services in Europe will be served freshly made sandwiches from 1 October.

A Swiss bakery will prepare the snacks overnight, allowing them to be freshly filled and brought onboard.

The sandwiches will feature a range of different breads as well as fillings including original Swiss cheese and quality meats.

It was also confirmed that the airline will offer an enhanced food product on intercontinental flights from Switzerland, with Appenzell, Gruyere and Emmental cheeses being served onboard and a second hot meal being added on services to Asia.

New packaging and boxes are being introduced to reduce the carrier's impact on the environment.

Swiss' route network from the UK includes flights to Zurich from London City, Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh airports.

Travellers can also fly to Basel from both London City and Manchester.
