Luxury Indian Ocean hotel to be staffed by blondes
7 Oct 2010
A travel company has unveiled plans to launch a luxury hotel resort in the Maldives staffed exclusively by young blonde women.
In an apparent effort to dispel stereotypes about the intelligence of fair-headed women, the Olialia Group will launch the development on a private island in the Indian Ocean in 2015.
An airline and yacht service will be included in the project to transport guests to and from the resort, while women will be able to take advantage of an "education centre", which will teach guests to "always be perfect and look great".
Giedre Pukiene, who is behind the development, said: "Our girls are very smart and they have degrees. All of them want to do something with their lives. They have lots of business ideas."
"When women with dark hair work here, they are surrounded by all these beautiful blondes, so eventually they end up going blonde too."
The development, which reportedly has British, Russian and German financial backing, has received the green light from tourist authorities in the Maldives, but commentators fear it could provoke anger from conservatives in the Islamic country.
