Enjoy an 'enchanting' Christmas in Copenhagen
14 Oct 2010

VisitDenmark has encouraged travellers looking for an 'enchanting' Christmas experience to take a break in Copenhagen.

A range of events will be taking place in the capital city, including the annual festive market in Tivoli Gardens, which will run from 12 November to 30 December.

Children will enjoy exploring Nisseland, where mechanical elves will be busy preparing for Christmas, while adults can browse through stalls selling a range of gifts and decorations.

Each day will end with a spectacular display featuring lights, smoke, fire and lasers above Tivoli Lake.

Restaurants in the Nyhavn area of Copenhagen will serve an array of festive foods around Christmas time, including roast duck stuffed with prunes and apples and pork loin with crackling, potatoes and red cabbage.

Popular shopping areas in Denmark's capital include Stroget, which is home to a mile-long pedestrian thoroughfare that will be decorated with green garlands and lights.

Illum department store is among the area's leading outlets and will feature a special Christmas shop this year.
