Vincent van Gogh exhibition in Rome
19 Oct 2010
A trip to Rome will provide a memorable experience for art enthusiasts over the coming months, with a display of paintings by Vincent van Gogh currently running in the city.
The exhibition is based at Complesso del Vittoriano in the Italian capital and will continue until 6 February 2011.
Entitled Timeless Countryside - Modern City, the show explores the apparent contradiction that exists in Van Gogh's work between his love of rural locations and his fascination with the city.
Travellers planning to visit Rome after 9 November this year will also have the opportunity to see an exhibition dedicated to the pre-Colombian civilisation of Teotihuacan at Palazzo delle Esposizioni.
Due to run until 27 February 2011, the showcase will explore what the Italian State Tourist Board describes as 'one of the most fascinating and mysterious empires of Central America'.
Visitors will be able to see more than 300 works of art, including monumental sculptures and mural paintings.
