Green car hire to be rolled out in Hamburg

Eco-conscious travellers booking car hire in Hamburg are to have more options to choose from next year as Europcar adds Daimler's car2go to its fleet.
Just recently, the manufacturer unveiled its two-seater vehicle at the Paris Motor Show, with the car boasting a solar-power roof capable of charging its battery, both while on the move and while stationary.
Now, Europcar has confirmed that it is to take delivery of the innovative green run-arounds next year, with the cars to be first offered to car hire customers in the German city of Hamburg from the start of March.
As well as being offered by the hour, customers will also be able to pay for a car2go by the minute, with Europcar Groupe chief executive Philippe Guillemot explaining that this will give tourists the 'best of both worlds' while they explore the bustling German port city.
'[The car offers] the freedom and comfort of a personal car and the benefits of public transportation, on an ultra personal level,' he said.
As well as its historic port, Hamburg is also well-known for its lively nightlife, with tourists still flocking to see the spot where the Beatles honed their skills before taking the world by storm.
