Car hire firm to roll out new self-service kiosks across Europe

Self-service car hire comes to Europe
21 Oct 2010

Tourists booking car hire in a number of top European destinations are to be offered the chance to make use of new technology geared towards making their time away more time-efficient.

The latest initiative from the car hire firm Hertz will see a number of self-service kiosks installed at many of the continent's top airports, with these enabling customers to collect pre-paid hire vehicles at the touch of a button.

In addition, these terminals will also give holidaymakers the chance to adjust their car hire options, for example by upgrading to a better vehicle or adding an extra such as satellite navigation, all without having to visit a Hertz office.

At the same time, the company has also confirmed that it is to launch a new iPhone app across Europe over the coming months.

Having already proven a hit with both business and leisure travellers in the United States, the upcoming app will give its customers the chance to make new bookings on the move, while also allowing them to keep up-to-speed with the latest car hire offers and tourist recommendations.

This comes in the same week that Hertz raised its predictions for full-year profits as it enjoys an ongoing rise in demand for rental cars.
