Some tourists have complained of there being too much sun during the Australian summer

Australian website reports holidaymakers' 'stupidest complaints'
26 Oct 2010

Holidaymakers booking flights to Sydney have lodged a range of bizarre complaints to their hotels or tour operators over the past year, it has been reported.

According to a study carried out by the Australian website travel.com.au, among the strangest of all complaints lodged with tourism officials over the past 12 months was that there aren't any kangaroos hopping around Sydney city centre.

Other favourite complaints received by amused tourism and hospitality staff include there being too much sand on the beach, fish in the sea or too much sun in the summertime.

However, it's not just visitors to Oz guilty of making such stupid complaints, with the website also uncovering the most-unreasonable gripes of Australians travelling in continental Europe.

These include the fact that there are 'too many' Spaniards in Spain, too many stones on Greece's beaches and an overall lack of English spoken on the continent as a whole

At the same time, Australian tourism minister Martin Ferguson has expressed his confidence that the upcoming visit of Oprah Winfrey to destinations such as the Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef will help further boost demand for flights to Sydney and elsewhere in the country.
