Flybe reveals 300% rise in bank holiday demand

Flybe has revealed that it saw a substantial increase in bookings following the announcement that the date of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, 29 April 2011, will be a bank holiday.
The carrier said there was a 'rush' for seats on all of its 346 flights to and from London over the weekend of the royal wedding.
So far, Flybe has experienced a 300% increase in sales for travel between 28 April and 3 May next year.
There has also been strong interest in other destinations in the airline's network, with Belfast and Jersey in 'particularly high demand'.
Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said the news of the royal wedding has proved a 'real boost' for Flybe.
He added: 'Whether travellers are looking to share in Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding day in London with a convenient day return, or take advantage of the additional bank holiday by travelling further afield, Flybe's extensive travel network across the UK and Europe offers extensive and affordable opportunities to make the most of this much-celebrated event.'
