Prague recommended for post-Christmas breaks

Prague is the ideal destination for people planning to shake off the post-Christmas blues by taking an overseas break, according to Czech Tourism.

Sylvie Taborova, project manager at the organisation, recommended the Czech Republic's capital city for travellers hoping to 'chill out' after a busy festive season.

'Prague after Christmas is relatively quiet, so visitors can enjoy its atmosphere and sights even more than in high season,' she said.

The Czech Tourism spokeswoman also commented on the value for money on offer to visitors looking for hotels in Prague, pointing out that the destination combines reasonable prices with 'great quality and [a] superb location'.

Ms Taborova added: 'The average price for a nice four-star hotel in the city centre would be £100 per night.'

People visiting the city at the beginning of January will be able to enjoy classical music and ballet performances at the Winter Festival, while the Bohemian Carnevale will return at the end of February.
