Visit 'intoxicating' Marrakech on a trip to Morocco

Visit 'intoxicating' Marrakech on a trip to Morocco

Holidaymakers planning a trip to Morocco in northern Africa should not miss the opportunity to visit Marrakech, according to a travel expert.

Matt Phillips, editor of travelafricamag.com, said that the city still holds the allure of an unknown and mysterious destination for visitors.

Mr Phillips claimed that it is 'as easy as ever' to lose oneself in the 'vibrant markets and myriad alleyways' of Marrakech.

'Even in Djemaa el-Fna, the city's largest square and the epicentre for tourists, it is hard not to be intoxicated by the city's spirit,' he added.

'At night, when Djemaa el-Fna is transformed into the nation's largest outdoor eatery, it is another world.'

Travellers can also look forward to an authentic experience in Marrakech, with Mr Phillips pointing out that the city does not put on 'a big performance' for tourists.

The destination was recently ranked as British Airways' top travel hotspot for 2011, ahead of San Diego, New York, St Kitts & Nevis and Puerto Rico.
