Thailand voted best sun destination

Thailand was among the winners at the 2010 Sunday Times Travel Magazine Awards, picking up the 'best sun destination' accolade.
According to readers of the magazine, Thailand has 'got the lot'.
Recommendations for people planning a trip to the south-east Asian nation include travelling cross-country on the night train, attending a full-moon party on Koh Pha Ngan and taking a powerboat trip to Patong.
Thailand picked up the top honour in the category covering sun holiday destinations ahead of the Maldives and Florida.
Joanna Cooke, consumer marketing and PR manager for the country's tourism authority, said: 'Thailand prides itself on being a destination that offers value and variety and as an all-year-round destination, with so many beach and island choices for either summer or winter sun holidays, we look forward to welcoming more tourists, staying longer and exploring new and up-and-coming areas next year.'
In the section recognising Sunday Times readers' favourite spas around the world, the Chiva Som complex in Hua Hin took second place.
