New bmibaby route from London to Belfast
20 Dec 2010

Bmibaby, the low-cost subsidiary of bmi, has announced a new route that will link London Stansted to Belfast City airport.

Flights will operate three times a day from Monday to Friday and once on Sundays from 28 March 2011.

Belfast City has been at the heart of a significant expansion for bmibaby recently, with the airline also set to begin flying from the base to Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands and Cardiff airports on 1 January 2011.

Julian Carr, the carrier's managing director, said the recently announced route will provide 'convenient links' between London and the heart of Belfast for leisure and business travellers alike.

Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, bmi's chief executive officer, said: 'The new bmibaby route to Stansted airport will complement bmi's service to Heathrow. Our customers will now have the choice of a full service carrier to Heathrow, or a low-cost offering to Stansted airport.

'The bmi group will now offer up to 105 flights a week from Belfast City to London and the UK regions.'

Belfast City airport's business development director, Katy Best, also welcomed the announcement and said that 2011 is set to be an 'exciting year' for the base.
