Frankfurt 'darkness museum' to celebrate fifth birthday

Travellers visiting Frankfurt next year can head to one of the German city's most unusual attractions as it celebrates its fifth birthday.

The privately operated Dialogue Museum opened its doors in 2005 and today is an 'integral part' of the city's cultural landscape, according to Frankfurt Tourism.

One of the main attractions at the museum is Dialogue in the Dark, a pitch-black exhibition that visitors explore with the help of guides and white canes.

Guests can also sit down for something to eat in a blacked-out restaurant and visit the Casino for Communication, an attraction designed to raise awareness through team games and activities.

Next year, the Dialogue Museum will host a 'blind penalty shootout' to coincide with the Fifa Women's World Cup in Germany.

Frankfurt Tourism highlighted several other cultural institutes and attractions for travellers to explore during a trip to the city, such as the Stadel Museum, Schirn Kunsthalle and the German Film Museum, which will be reopening in spring next year.
