Travellers planning a trip to South Korea have been encouraged to seek out some of the diverse experiences on offer across the country.

According to Ramy Salameh, PR manager at the Korea Tourism Organisation, diversity is the 'key word' for the nation's travel industry.

He highlighted attractions such as the Gyeongju area, which is known as the 'museum without walls', and the capital city of Seoul.

'Seoul is one of the world's most dynamic and exciting metropolises, delicately balancing old and new,' Mr Salameh said.

'The city's legacy winds through labyrinthine alleyways before opening out to skyscrapers at the next turn. Iconic city landmarks include Gyeongbokgung Palace, the official royal palace built in 1395 for the founder of the Joseon dynasty.'

Visitors can also head to the National Folk Museum to learn more about Korean culture and history.

Finnair announced this week that it would be adding more flights from Helsinki to Seoul as part of its ongoing expansion in Asia.
