The strength of the Aussie dollar and Thailand baht could influence decision-making

Travel tips for 2011

For many tourists, 2010 has been a troublesome year, with strikes, volcanoes and snow all conspiring to make jetting off to sunnier climes more difficult than usual.

However, as a new year approaches, Daily Mail travel writer Sarah Gordon has given her top tips for the best places to visit in 2011 and travel editor of the newspaper, Frank Barrett, said that the recent cold snap could be sending Brits aboard on cheap flights in droves.

According to Mr Barrett, 'cheap and cheerful' holidays will be popular in 2011, with destinations offering value for money staying popular.

Ms Gordon also agreed that value for money would be a factor for many but noted that despite the strong Aussie dollar and Thailand baht, these two popular holiday spots could still offer good value breaks for those who are savvy.

The Daily Mail recently said that the Red Sea is the top winter sun spot for those looking to escape the chilly UK weather.
