Obamas extend Hawaii break
4 Jan 2011
Hawaii is a dream holiday destination for many and this festive season, US president Barack Obama spent time in his home state with his wife Michelle and two daughters, Sasha and Malia.
It seems the family had such a good time that they did not want to return to the White House, as presidential spokesman Bill Burton announced during the stay that the Obamas would be staying an extra day.
The family, who could inspire many people to take flights to Hawaii, eventually headed back to Washington DC late yesterday (January 3rd).
They spent their holiday at a rented house on the island of Oahu, which boasts an ocean view and luxury trappings.
Pictures on AJC showed President Obama enjoying a barbeque with friends from high school on the North Shore.
The source reported that a 20-car motorcade escorted him to visit Bobby Titcomb, described as a long-time friend.
Obama was born in Honolulu and lived in both Hawaii and Indonesia as a child.
