Spring festivals in north-east America

Travellers visiting some of America's north-eastern states this year will have the opportunity to experience the spring festivals that will be taking place in the area.
Capital Region USA, which represents Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland, highlighted events such as the annual Cherry Blossom festival in the capital city, which will run from 26 March to 10 April.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the sight of thousands of trees coming to life with pink and white blossom during the festival, which will culminate in a parade on 9 April.
People with a passion for nature will also be interested in Historic Garden Week in Virginia, which will return for its 78th outing from 16 to 23 April 2011.
More than 250 gardens, homes and landmarks throughout the state will take part, presenting an array of spectacular springtime colours against the backdrop of some impressive architecture.
Capital Region USA also recommends Springfest, which will feature arts and crafts markets, music concerts, culinary showcases and other events in Maryland's Ocean City from 5 to 8 May.
