3 Feb 2011
San Francisco will host a number of special events and exhibitions over the coming months celebrating the city's food and wine.
Visitors can head to venues such as the Main Library, which is hosting an exhibition focusing on the restaurants, street vendors and culinary experiences that have characterised the city for decades.
Due to run until 20 March 2011, the display features menus, photographs, cookbooks and other items from the library's collections.
San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art will present a show until 17 April this year exploring the visual culture of wine and the transformation that it has experienced over the last 30 years.
Historical artefacts, models, artworks, glassware and many other exhibits are on display at the museum.
Special events set to take place in San Francisco over the coming months include Beer Week, which will run from 11 to 20 February, and Toast of the Town, a celebration of food and wine that will make its debut at City Hall on 7 April.
