Emirates named airline of the year
9 Feb 2011
Emirates has received the title of 'airline of the year' from industry publication Air Transport World.
The Dubai-based carrier revealed that the accolade was given to recognise its 'strong commitment to safety and operational excellence', as well as the company's good financial performance and 'trendsetting' customer service.
Tim Clark, president of the airline, received the award at a gala dinner in Washington DC yesterday (8 February).
He said: 'The last few years have been among the most demanding in our industry's history but despite the challenges, we have kept our focus on delivering the very highest standards of product, passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
'This recognition is testament to our commitment to innovation and service excellence as we continue to grow our global network and offer customers more opportunities to discover the world from Dubai.'
Perry Flint, editorial director for Air Transport World, said that Emirates operates a route network that appeals to travellers based in the Middle East, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia.
Services available from the airline include Airbus A380 flights to Dubai from London Heathrow and Manchester airports.
