Virgin Atlantic reveals record rose delivery

British lovebirds appear to be feeling more romantic than ever this year despite recent financial challenges, according to Virgin Atlantic, which has helped transport record numbers of roses into the UK ahead of Valentine's Day.
The airline revealed that red, yellow, pink and white roses arrived in London 'in abundance' during the first weeks in February.
Virgin Atlantic alone transported more than 15 tonnes of flowers from Kenya to the UK - 44% more than last year.
John Lloyd, the carrier's cargo director, said: 'It's reassuring to know that even in these tough times, romance is still alive and well in the UK.
'Although the red rose is definitely the flower of choice for the romantic British male this year, we are also seeing large quantities of chrysanthemums from Cape Town and carnations from the US arriving into the country.'
Virgin Atlantic has also transported more than ten tonnes of Kenyan roses to Japan and seven tonnes to the US via Miami.
Travellers planning a long-haul holiday this year can catch flights to destinations such as Sydney, Hong Kong and San Francisco with the airline.
