Campaign to promote New Zealand online

Regular internet users could notice some new advertising messages promoting New Zealand in the near future following the launch of a digital marketing initiative by the country's tourist board.

Tourism New Zealand's ongoing campaign is entering a new phase featuring social media communications and messages on online lifestyle and travel magazines and information sites.

Another new element is the addition of the line 'It's about time' to the '100% pure you' slogan, which is hoped to encourage a more immediate desire to travel.

The messages will accompany images of a couple kayaking, whale watching, wine tasting and enjoying some of the country's famous scenery.

Gregg Anderson, general manager of western long-haul markets at Tourism New Zealand, said: 'Over the last ten years our '100% pure' advertising message has been hugely successful in building awareness for New Zealand as a destination.

'Its natural evolution to 'New Zealand 100% pure you', and the current line 'It's about time' really signifies our shift in focus to target people who are actively considering New Zealand for a holiday and encourage them to travel soon.'

The country will enjoy a boost in profile later this year when it hosts the Rugby World Cup in September and October.
