Air France aims to boost tourism in French Caribbean
22 Feb 2011
Air France has announced two routes which it expects to provide a boost for European tourism to the French Caribbean.
The airline will operate flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe and Fort-de-France in Martinique from 4 November 2011.
Passengers will be offered weekly connections to both locations, with the Pointe-a-Pitre service set to operate on Sundays and the Fort-de-France route scheduled for Saturdays.
Air France already operates up to 26 flights per week to the destinations from Paris Orly airport, meaning there will be up to 28 weekly links available to travellers during the winter 2011-12 season.
Alain Malka, the airline's senior vice president in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, said: 'By building on its existing product offer on departure from Paris-Orly to the French Caribbean, Air France is demonstrating, more than any other airline, that it is a major player in the development of Caribbean tourism.'
KLM, a partner of Air France, announced last week that it would be expanding its presence in South America from 31 October this year with the resumption of flights from Amsterdam to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
